Premier Custom Built, Inc.
Premier Custom Built, Inc. is a manufacturer of luxury custom cabinetry. Founded in 1991, with the goal of offering superior cabinetry craftsmanship to the discerning buyer, Premier has grown into an organization of 80-plus employees who represent close to 1,000 years of combined experience in custom cabinet making.
Upon Premier’s inception in 1991, president and founder Marlin Horst recognized the importance of attracting skilled craftspeople and dedicated managers. He immediately began to attract those who shared his passion for uncompromising craftsmanship. Premier’s dedication to producing the finest in custom cabinetry has allowed them to grow their business strategically throughout the United States without the assistance of the marketing or advertising mediums. Dealing directly with professional kitchen designers, Premier operates out of a state-of-the-art 60,000 square foot plant in New Holland, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
In 2001, Mr. Horst approached North Group Consultants about the possibility of working together to develop Marlin’s organization with the same unrelenting excellence that characterizes their cabinet making. Marlin cast a vision whereby North Group would be deployed within the Premier organization for the purpose of developing the organization and its leadership to fulfill its highest potential. North Group partner and consultant Dennis Clemmer has proved to be equal to Marlin’s challenge.
Premier and North Group are currently in their sixth year of working together. Marlin Horst states simply and directly “We will never stop growing. We will never stop getting better and better. Our ongoing partnership with North Group is a major part of our organizational improvement process. Dennis chairs our senior management meetings, mentors our managers and has initiated a performance review process within our senior management team.” Marlin further states, “Recently I had my first performance review in 15 years of business. And it was of tremendous value!”
Clearly, Premier Custom Built is a unique organization. By retaining North Group as its consultant on an ongoing basis, Premier continues to develop its people, seek alignment with internal values and goals, and build a culture of trust and accountability.
